This is a poem that I can%26#039;t readily find. Author unknown. Can anybody help me find where I can get this poem. It has a special meaning for me. thanks

The Flower behind the Wall?

I am sending you this flower.

Do not be sad thinking it died in route to you.

You see I picked it dead from where it once grew.

It was once alive and growing until it was planted behind the prison wall.

Now it can no longer grow,

no longer live,

no longer breathe at all.

What a shame!

What a waste to be locked up in this unholy place.

Don%26#039;t be sad and do not cry.

Please tell me why it was left here to die.

It withered away because no one here cares at all.

Any hope it ever had was on the other side of the wall.

So keep this flower close to your heart.

It once was a work of art.

It was something beautiful to have and to hold.

Now, it is dry, dead and old.

This flower is symbolic of what is to be.

This flower is the life that was once me.

I pluck you out of the crannies,

I hold you here, root and all, in my hand,

Little flower -- but if I could understand

*This poem is very hard to understand...can you please help me INTERPRET the meaning of this poem LINE BY LINE?

It really fustrates me that I can%26#039;t understand it...please don%26#039;t tell me everyone has a different meaning...I KNOW there must be a general meaning...

Re-reading it you get a very good rhythm

The poet has seen a flower struggling to survive in a crack

He/ she plucks it out of curiosity

It is a miracle of life but curiosity has killed it

The writer had the power of life and death for the flower

What is life ........where does the person / flower %26quot; go %26quot; when dead

If we could understand that relationship then we might understand something about God

I think the whole %26quot;holy ghost%26quot; thing was more of a placeholder for a much more interesting character they had in development, %26quot;Ol%26#039; Humpback Ficklesnitz%26quot;, an incontinent orangutan who was going to provide comedic relief, but the deadline snuck up on them so they got stuck with this useless %26quot;Holy Ghost%26quot; placeholder with no personality, no lines at all, and a story with no big laffs, and a three part god that%26#039;s really one god, kinda like a big Voltron.

Oh, he does a lot in the Bible. This is the spirit of Jesus himself in my mind. This is how I feel so close to Him. I feel his presence in the room when I think of him. That is how he is always by our side. Just in a different realm that we cannot physically see, but he is there. Yes, we need that, desparately.

i%26#039;m a bit of both.

see, i like being center of attention, but then i get shy about it so at the moment everyone%26#039;s paying attention to me i wished they weren%26#039;t. but still you can%26#039;t help but feel pleased when someone pays attention to you, even if you feel a bit shy at the same time, cause it%26#039;s a nice feeling.

you try twice...once to greet them and look around the room whom they know and say, oh there%26#039;s so and so and see if they go over to join in. If they don%26#039;t then another time you might want to ask how they are enjoying themselves and point out the snack table or ask if they want a drink and have someone else give them one or point them to the bartender. After that it%26#039;s up to them to join in, stand in the back and enjoy watching (maybe they are just a people watcher or are normally introverted or really don%26#039;t have much to say usually but maybe they %26quot;are%26quot; enjoying themselves in what they are doing). It%26#039;s ok to be a wall flower or party pooper....you don%26#039;t have to cope with their personality as they aren%26#039;t harming anyone. Just smile and enjoy your party.

Reply:First of all, I%26#039;m an introvert. I don%26#039;t equate the terms wall-flower and party pooper; they aren%26#039;t the same. People enjoy themselves in their own way. Just b/c someone isn%26#039;t being %26quot;entertaining%26quot; doesn%26#039;t mean they aren%26#039;t having fun. Try including them in the activities. They may just need a little encouraging esp. if they only know the host. I think the host should take the initiative b/c other party goers a) might not know them and/or b) may be too wrapped up in socializing at the party to notice. While hosting a party have a good time, but most importantly make sure the guest are as well. I hope this helps. Enjoy the party.

In fact maybe they have come out of respect for you, even though they find the party-style socialising difficult. Not everyone enjoys making small-talk with strangers or talking in a noisy environment with friends. They can always enjoy the food, drink, music and people-watching.

Reply:You might get it into your head that you are there to make the party fun for your guests. Why not approach him and engage him in conversation and bring him over to meet the other party goers. Try to imagine that everything is not all about you and see if you can%26#039;t help him/her to have a good time. That people are shy and have such a hard time engaging with others is not an indication that they have adopted this strategy to annoy you. You thought this person was worth inviting so do all you can to make it fun for him and others like him/her.

YES! Personally it%26#039;s one of my favorites. The protagonist is honest, sincere, and vulnerable but strong. And the book itself can be funny and touching and depressing. It%26#039;s one of those books that can impact your life when you%26#039;re young. It%26#039;s a good read.

Im 13 and some of my friends say its really good..but some say it was a little to intinse.

So my parents want me to know before I read it...

I would reccomend reading any book.

If its too mature then you will obviously learn something from it and that is an awesome book.
Reply:This book is amazing, sadly i didn%26#039;t get the chance to read it until i was 16 but i fell in love with it.

There are some issues that could be deemed inappropriate but i think that if you are mature for your age and can understand the topics being discussed then it%26#039;s fine.

It is kind of intense but in a good way.

I%26#039;d say go for it and if you find it a little intense then take a breather and try again in a year or so :)

Reply:I read this as a college student, so my opinion may be different if I read it now, but at the time, I found it vastly overrated. Most of the protagonist%26#039;s teachers lavishly praised his intelligence, but his vocabulary was no more advanced than that of an average teenage boy. I also found the boy annoying because he cried at the drop of a hat (to be fair, it also bothers me when women do that in a novel). I just couldn%26#039;t sympathize with him very strongly. It is a good book to read in terms of cultural relevancy, but I didn%26#039;t find it all that well-written, realistic, or engaging. Of course, you are welcome to read the novel and form your own opinion.

A wall climbing flower that dosen't attract bees?

My house faces north and south. My back patio is great to sit out on, but in the evening the setting sun blinds the patio.

I live in Texas so shade is better in the summer time.

I would like to put up a latice fence from the patio to the roof of the patio on the West side, effectivly creating a wall.

However if I%26#039;m going to sit outside I don%26#039;t want a bunch of bees to be attracted to the flowers I have crawling up the fence.

Any suggestions???

Rethink your aversion to bees. I do all I can to attract them because we need the pollinators. Honey bees are in big trouble now, they%26#039;re dying!

I%26#039;ve walked through rows of white flowering garlic, which seems to attract every stinging insect for miles around, and was never stung. They were too busy to even notice me

Reply:Bees see from yellow on through blue and beyond into the UV. They do not see red so red flowers are less likely to attract bees as a primary pollinator. Bees have short tongues so they like flat, composite flowers like a marigold or daisy. You need a trumpet throated flower that attracts hummingbirds or butterflies.

Reply:The whole POINT of a flower is to attract a small flying pollinator to help with pollination.

That being said, some are more attractive than others to bees. Clematis might be a good pick.
Reply:I don%26#039;t see bees on my clematis much, but I think bees are attracted to pretty much any flower. Anyhow, busy bees don%26#039;t even know you are around. I used to sit under my English Laural while it was in bloom and watch all the bees and butterflies just working away. I%26#039;d rather be near a hive of busy bees then even one that is just wandering with nothing to do except browse and take sips of my soda.

Does anyone know if it would be a bad idea to have raised flower beds held in by a retaining wall along the front of your house? Are there any issues I should be concerned with?

Only thing I would check is the building codes for your area as they my have some rules about material, how close to the street or sidewalk, etc. The only other concern I would envision is the material you would use. The longer you want your raised flower bed retaining wall the more substantial you will want the material.

Reply:I don%26#039;t see anything wrong with it. In fact, I think it would look really great provided you mix colrs and styles of plants. Make sure the retaining wall is strong enough to hold in the dirt and garden away. I also found that mulching really helps keep moisture in and weeds at bay. Good luck.

Reply:About the only thing you would need to worry about would be drainage. Poor drainage for a particular bed could lead to the water making its way underneath your home. The increased humidity would lead to some problems. (Mold, or worst case scenario, standing water under the house.) For so long as you make provisions for bed drainage away from the house, you should be fine.

The perks of being a wall flower by Stephen Chbosky is my favorite book of all time and I cant find anything I like as much or is as good, got any ideas for me?

I%26#039;ve heard a lot about %26quot;Perks Of Being A Wall Flower%26quot; however I%26#039;ve not had the pleasure of reading it. From what I know about the book, you may want to try a book called %26quot;The Tragedy Of Miss Geneva Flowers%26quot; By Joe Babcock.

At first, reading the description, I wasn%26#039;t so sure I would like it. I read the entire thing and the book actually made me cry. A BOOK that can make ME cry...It%26#039;s amazing!

I%26#039;m more of a wall flower I guess. I just am not a people person and don%26#039;t like to get out and socailize. I can do small talk, ie.%26quot;Hi, how are you ect. But that%26#039;s all I want! My therapist said if I was ok with it, that%26#039;s what matters. That all people are NOT created equal. LOL!

Then I%26#039;ll pop out, dazzle everyone for a little while, and bugger off again. It works for me, so why change it?
